On this security tab, we will find a section at the top, lists of the various security zones. A security zones is a named collection of web sites that can be assigned a specific security level. IE uses zones to define the threat level a specific web site poses to the system : Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted sites and Restricted sites.

Internet zones is contains all sites not assigned to other zones. Local Intranet is contains all site within the local intranet or on the local system and operating system maintains this zones automatically. Trusted sites is contains only site manually added and only fully trusted sites. Restricted sites, contains only site manually added for any sites that are specifically not trusted or that are known to be malicious.

For each of these zones, we can select a custom level of protection by clicking the Custom Level button. The predefined security levels are offered on a slide controller with up to five settings with a description of the content : Low, Medium-Low, Medium, Medium-High, High.

We recommended the high security setting be applied for the Internet zones. By selecting the high security setting, several feature will be disabled. With this feature disables, the IE browser will be more secure. Finally, click the default level button and then drag the slider control up to high. We also recommended to see detail about How to Tighten Web Browser Security.
